Initially once you call our clinic number, you will be greeted and an appointment will be made with insurance information collected or self-pay options given. We can email you the new patient forms that are either PDF or print and complete to either send back to us via email or fax or bring with you upon arrival for your appointment. The office staff will call you and explain your insurance benefits and what you should expect to pay.
A few minutes may pass while we complete the necessary administrative tasks. You will be escorted back to one of the examination rooms where vitals will be taken and then Dr. Tondera will enter to introduce himself and begin asking you many questions. After he has acquired all the necessary data during the interview and detailed questions regarding your complaints, concerns or illness an examination will begin. Typically, a detailed examination will be completed with ears, eyes, nose, throat, heart, lungs and abdomen will be examined depending on your complaint or even musculoskeletal and neurological exams, if required. Additional diagnostics may be ordered (i.e. labs, blood, urine, ultrasound, x-rays, CT/MRI scans, cultures). If necessary, Dr. Tondera may consult his supervising physician Jeffrey Alford MD (Family Practice) or refer you to a specialist for your particular issue. Once Dr. Tondera has completed the examination he will discuss treatment options and answer any questions you may have. Follow-up visits are discussed and scheduled. Usually, treatment can begin that first day depending on the need of additional diagnostics or further investigation. There are several options in his weight loss program from oral medications, meal replacement with Medi-Health, shakes and bars from Optifast and self-monitored nutritional counseling to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Dr. Tondera requires 2 week follow-ups for supervision, accountability, encouragement, advising, patient education, and program fine-tuning. Follow-up visits help you maximize your weight loss and will equip you as you maintain your success weight loss.
This type of patient approach flows from the conservative outcome based care Dr. Tondera developed as a chiropractor after receiving a Diplomate in Nutrition in 1996 and a nurse practitioner. This first visit is usually the longest due to documents needing to be completed, a file set-up, and the initial history taken by Dr. Tondera. However, you will be impressed and pleased with this fresh approach to patient care as you leave confident that Dr. Tondera has listened and heard from you and is interested in making a difference in your health.
