Coming to Tondera Family Practice and Chiropractic will be a unique experience. It may remind you of another Doctor of Chiropractic that you have seen before, but after meeting Dr. Tondera and discussing your particular issues you will know he has a perspective that is rarely seen.
Once you call our clinic number, you will be greeted and an appointment will be made with insurance information collected or self-pay options given. We can email you the new patient forms to print and complete to either send back to us via email or fax or bring with you upon arrival for your appointment. The office staff will call you and explain your insurance benefits and what you will expect to pay.
A few minutes may pass while we complete the necessary administrative tasks. You will be escorted back to one of the examination rooms where vitals are taken and then Dr. Tondera will enter to introduce himself and begin asking you many questions. After he has acquired all the necessary data during the interview and detailed questions regarding your complaints, concerns or illness an examination will begin. Typically, a detailed examination will be completed with ears, eyes, nose, throat, heart, lungs and abdomen will be examined depending on your complaint or even musculoskeletal examination, neurological if necessary. Additional diagnostics may be ordered (i.e. labs, blood, urine, ultrasound, x-rays, CT/MRI scans, cultures), consulting his supervising physician Jeffrey Alford MD (Family Practice) or referring you to a specialist for your particular issue. Once Dr. Tondera has completed the examination, he will discuss the appropriate treatment options and answer any questions. Any needed follow-up visits are discussed and scheduled. Usually, treatment can begin that first day, depending on the need for additional diagnostics or further investigation.
Dr. Tondera finds it critical to investigate the causes of disease rather than to only treat the symptoms. This conservative background comes from his upbringing, his training as a Doctor of Chiropractic, as well as his training as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This training, experience, and if needed, rich referral bank of specialists equip him to be your best advocate in health and wellness. The first visit is usually the longest due to documents needing to be completed, a file set-up, and the initial history taken by Dr. Tondera. However, if you invest the time, you will see that rare perspective described above. We hope you will give us a chance to show you individual and the highest quality healthcare Dr. Tondera can give to you and your family.

Dr. Tondera can mix the two professions to make your care even more inclusive. The types of conditions are simple/complex sprains, strains, whiplash, bursitis, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, neck cricks, pinched nerves, radicular conditions, and osteoarthritis. This list is by far not inclusive, but it is a good beginning.
