Dr. Tondera offers a wide range of primary health care services and experienced chiropractic care for patients of all ages, from infants to retirees. An involved father with three children of his own, he enjoys seeing entire families, providing individualized primary health care that emphasizes overall wellness.
“I always admired my dad, and as a kid, I wanted to be a chiropractor just like him. As much as I enjoyed and learned in the years we practiced together, I realized quickly that patients could benefit even more if I could give them the traditional approach to healthcare using modern diagnostics, prescriptive medication as well as conservative chiropractic care. My desires to serve the whole patient ultimately led me to become a nurse-practitioner. Today I have blended the medicine of the old-fashioned family practitioner with the chiropractic and nutrition I have practiced for 22 years. Patients can take advantage of the primary care, the chiropractic and nutrition, or all of the above.”
Dr. Tondera graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 1992. He earned special recognition as the Outstanding Clinical intern, one of the only two awards given to the graduating seniors. Immediately after graduation, his article on Meningimas was published in the Texas Medical Center Neurosurgical Rotation Newsletter. He also completed an initial 60 hour post-graduate corse in Nutrition, which spurred his interest to continue in that sub-specialty.
In 1993, he began performing whole person impairment ratings for his patients, and other patients referred from physicians throughout the Greater Houston area. Dr. Tondera also served Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission throughout the state as a designated doctor. Dr. Tondera was elected to the TCC Alumni Board of Directors in 1993. He served as an Attending Clinical for the outpatient clinic at Texas Chiropractic College’s campus in 1994. His second article was published in Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 1996. That same year, Dr. Tondera received his Diplomate in Nutrition from the American Clinical Board of Nutrition. He held the office of Secretary for the Texas Chiropractic College Alumni Board in 1997.
Dr. Tondera was elected as Vice-President of Alliance Chiropractic organization representing over 60 area chiropractic physicians. In June 2009, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Hardin-Simmons University. Dr. Tondera graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 2011 with a Masters’ Degree in Nursing and is licensed to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well. This allowed Dr. Tondera to meld the benefits of a holistic, natural approach to wellness with the cutting edge, primary care management tools every patient needs. His interest, experence and commitment to his patient’s nutritional wellness spans back 24 years.
